Today was Jen’s first official day in Canada and Sarah decided to take us out for the day. First we went on a hike to Stanley Glacier which was a great walk, until we reached the snow and were pot holing most of the way!! The weather was beautiful to start out with and the view was amazing of the glacier. We got to a spot where we were in perfect view of the glacier and stopped for lunch.
As we were sitting, a huge grey cloud started ascending on us and turned into a massive thunder storm and hailing. We made a quick exit and made our way back to the car.
Next we were on our way to the Radium hot springs, was so looking forward to this. On the drive up (it took around 1hr 30mins) we saw3 bears!!! One loan bear and then one with a cub. Couldn’t believe it. Was amazing!! We didn’t stop to look as they were on the side of the road and didn’t want to cause a ‘bear jam’ so we took it slow to see then drove on.
The hot springs were lush. I couldn’t get over how hot they were around 38 degrees. Was so hot. We just sat there for around an hour swimming and relaxing! Definitely couldn’t stay there all day in that temperature.
On the way back from the hotsprings we say another bear with 2 cubs!! That’s 6 bears in one trip. Amazing!
